Internacional and Red Bull Bragantino will meet in the semi-finals of the 2026 Women's Copa do Brasil after qualifying in very different ways. Internacional drew both games against Atlético-MG, finished the quarter-final tie level at 1-1 on aggregate and won the penalty shootout 4-3. Bragantino beat Ferroviária 2-0 in the first leg, lost the return match 3-2 and progressed 4-3 on aggregate. The two 4-3 scores measure different things: one counts penalty shootout conversions, while the other counts goals scored across both legs.

The four quarter-final results

Red Bull Bragantino12 October: Ferroviária 0-2 Bragantino, Araraquara20 October: Bragantino 2-3 Ferroviária, Bragança PaulistaWon 4-3 on aggregate, without a shootout

These figures cover only the two quarter-final legs in this edition of the competition. Goals scored in a penalty shootout are not added to the goals in the tie.

Why did Internacional need penalties?

The first 1-1 draw took place on 14 October at Beira-Rio. On 20 October, at Arena MRV, neither side scored. Neither team therefore won in regulation time across the two matches, leaving the aggregate score level at 1-1.

Internacional's shootout began with a miss by Sole Jaimes, but Julia Bianchi, Débora, Bianca Martins and Caty converted their attempts. The club won the shootout 4-3 and reached the semi-finals. The distinction matters: Internacional did not score four goals in the tie. It scored one goal over the two matches and converted four penalties in the separate deciding contest.

How did Bragantino survive defeat in the return leg?

On 12 October, away from home, Bragantino beat Ferroviária 2-0 at Fonte Luminosa in Araraquara, with goals from Lurdinha and Duda Rodrigues. That first-leg advantage meant Bragantino could remain ahead on aggregate despite losing the return match on 20 October at Cícero de Souza Marques in Bragança Paulista.

In the second leg, Fátima Dutra scored twice for Ferroviária and Rhaissa added a third, while Mylena and Duda Rodrigues scored for Bragantino. Across the tie, Bragantino scored four goals and Ferroviária three. One more goal for the Araraquara side would have levelled the aggregate score and forced a penalty shootout, but it did not arrive.

What does this tell us ahead of the semi-final?

Internacional qualified without winning in regulation time in the quarter-finals, relying on two draws and its penalty conversions. Bragantino secured an away win and protected a one-goal aggregate advantage in the return leg. Those are descriptions of the paths to qualification, not sufficient evidence to compare overall playing quality or name a favourite: they faced different opponents and the sample is only two matches per club.

In the draw held on 23 October, the CBF set Internacional v Red Bull Bragantino as the first leg and Red Bull Bragantino v Internacional as the return. The provisional dates are 4 and 8 November 2026, respectively. The announcements consulted specify home advantage and those provisional dates, but not final kick-off times or venues. Bahia and Flamengo contest the other semi-final.
