Cruzeiro and Libertad meet on Sunday, 25 October 2026, at 9:00 p.m. Brasília time (7:00 p.m. in Ecuador), at Estadio Banco Guayaquil in the Quito area, in the Women's Copa Libertadores quarter-finals. The Brazilian club enter the tie with three wins and nine group-stage points; the Paraguayan side qualified on five points after one win and two draws. That difference describes their earlier campaigns but carries no advantage into the knockout match.
What do nine points and five points tell us?
Cruzeiro topped Group C with eight goals scored, just one conceded and a +7 goal difference. Libertad finished second in Group D with five goals scored, four conceded and a +1 difference. Both teams progressed unbeaten, but by different routes: Cruzeiro won all three matches while Libertad drew twice.
| Group-stage measure | Cruzeiro (Group C) | Libertad (Group D) |
|---|---|---|
| Points | 9 | 5 |
| Matches | 3 | 3 |
| Wins / draws / losses | 3 / 0 / 0 | 1 / 2 / 0 |
| Goals scored | 8 | 5 |
| Goals conceded | 1 | 4 |
| Goal difference | +7 | +1 |
| Share of available points | 100% | 55.6% |
Across the same sample of three games per club, Cruzeiro scored three more goals and conceded three fewer. Their single goal conceded matched Corinthians for the best defensive record in the group stage. This provides context, not a forecast: the two teams played in different groups against different opponents, so those numbers alone cannot determine how the tie will unfold.
All three group-stage results for each team
Cruzeiro began by beating LDU Quito 2-1 on 16 October. They then defeated Bolívar 3-0 and repeated that score against Olimpia, completing their debut group-stage campaign with a perfect points record.
| Date in 2026 | Cruzeiro result |
|---|---|
| 16 Oct | Cruzeiro 2-1 LDU Quito |
| 19 Oct | Cruzeiro 3-0 Bolívar |
| 22 Oct | Olimpia 0-3 Cruzeiro |
Libertad opened with a 1-1 draw against Deportivo Cali, beat Universidad de Chile 2-1 and ended with a 2-2 draw against Nacional. In that last match, the Paraguayan side went 2-0 ahead before conceding twice, but the point was enough to secure qualification.
| Date in 2026 | Libertad result |
|---|---|
| 16 Oct | Deportivo Cali 1-1 Libertad |
| 19 Oct | Libertad 2-1 Universidad de Chile |
| 22 Oct | Libertad 2-2 Nacional |
How is the quarter-final decided?
From the quarter-finals onwards, ties are single matches. There is no second leg, aggregate score or draw advantage for the team with the better group-stage record. If Cruzeiro and Libertad are level at the end of regulation time, a penalty shootout will determine who advances. The winners will face either Deportivo Cali or Olimpia in the semi-final scheduled for 28 October.
The campaign figures are calculated after the final group fixtures on 22 October. Match details were checked on 24 October 2026, before kick-off; this preview does not claim confirmed starting line-ups or a quarter-final result.
