Liverpool and Fenerbahçe head into Matchday 4 of the 2026/27 UEFA Champions League with contrasting figures: the English club have scored 12 goals in three matches, while the Turkish side have conceded nine over the same span. This comparison covers only the first three league-phase matchdays, completed by 21 October 2026. UEFA schedules the fixture for Wednesday 4 November at 18:45 CET, with Fenerbahçe at home.
Liverpool’s 12 goals amount to four per match; Fenerbahçe’s nine conceded work out to three per game. These figures measure different things, one team’s attack and the other’s defence, and neither predicts a scoreline nor offers a complete assessment of team quality.

How Liverpool reached 12 goals
The English side beat Atlético de Madrid 2-1, LASK 6-3 and Villarreal 4-3. Their goals scored add up to 2 + 6 + 4 = 12. Half came in the away match at LASK, a relevant detail: a four-goal average does not mean Liverpool produced the same attacking output in each of the three games.
There is also a counterweight in those scorelines. Liverpool conceded seven goals, one against Atlético and three in each of their next two matches. Against Villarreal on Matchday 3, they recovered from a 2-0 deficit to win 4-3, a comeback documented both by the club and in Andy Hunter’s report for The Guardian. Their perfect nine-point return therefore should not be confused with a flawless defensive record.
Why Fenerbahçe’s nine conceded goals need context
Fenerbahçe drew 1-1 with Roma and 2-2 with Slavia Praha, and lost 6-0 at Aston Villa. Those results yield 1 + 6 + 2 = 9 goals conceded. The defeat in England alone accounts for six of the nine, or two-thirds of the total; the team let in three across its other two fixtures combined.
That distribution changes the interpretation. Three goals conceded per match is a mathematically accurate average for this sample, but it does not mean Fenerbahçe allowed precisely three in every outing. Nor is it enough to assign all nine goals to a particular tactical failing without reviewing comparable match footage and data.
What the contrast tells us before 4 November
Liverpool have nine points from three wins, whereas Fenerbahçe have two from two draws and one defeat. The English club have scored 12 while conceding seven; their Turkish opponents have scored three and conceded nine. The numbers point to a defensive challenge for the hosts, but they also show that the visitors have allowed opponents opportunities that resulted in goals.
The next fixture is Matchday 4 on 4 November at 18:45 CET. With different opponents, home-and-away circumstances and events across the previous fixtures, three games support a comparison of results, not a probability of winning. Line-ups, player availability and broadcast coverage are outside this analysis and are not being presented as confirmed.
