Morocco's AS FAR face Uganda's Kawempe Muslim Ladies on 2 November 2026 at 14:00 Cairo time in the opening round of Group B at the CAF Women's Champions League in Egypt. The match brings together the defending continental champions and the first Ugandan club to reach the tournament proper.

The newcomers qualified after four wins from four games, 13 goals scored and none conceded in the CECAFA zonal qualifiers held in Kigali, Rwanda, in August. These figures relate only to the regional qualifiers, not the continental group stage in November.

Kawempe's four qualifying victories

CAF's match records establish the four results, including two separate encounters with Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE).

Kawempe beat CBE first in the group and again in the semi-final. Against Kenya Police Bullets in the final, the score was 0-0 after 90 minutes. Agnes Nabukenya scored in the 100th minute, during extra time, to settle the match 1-0. The final was therefore not won in regulation time.

Those results add up to 13 goals for and none against, with eight of the goals coming against FC Ujeco. The unbeaten, clean-sheet run establishes what Kawempe achieved in qualifying; it does not predict their results in the final tournament.

Why is the opener against AS FAR a different test?

AS FAR enter the 2026 event as the defending champions. Kawempe, by contrast, earned their place by winning CECAFA's East and Central African qualifying competition. These are different routes into the event: a previous continental title and success in a regional qualifier.

The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) confirmed that Kawempe became the first club from Uganda to qualify for the final tournament. CAF lists Ayub Khalifa as their coach. Winning the zonal title in August does not, by itself, establish who is favoured against the African titleholders.

Group B schedule and qualification rules

Group B also includes Mali's USFAS Bamako and a place reserved for the WAFU B zone. In its 27 October fixture announcement, CAF still listed that fourth entrant by zone; its identity depended on the conclusion of Edo Queens versus Ampem Darkoa, scheduled for 29 October.

The competition comprises two groups of four clubs. Each side plays three group games, and the top two in each group advance to the semi-finals on 11 November. The Group B winners meet the Group A runners-up, while the Group B runners-up face the Group A winners. The final is scheduled for 15 November.

According to the 27 October CAF schedule, Kawempe's remaining Group B fixtures are:

  • 5 November, 17:00 Cairo time: WAFU B representative vs Kawempe Muslim Ladies.
  • 8 November, 14:00 Cairo time: Kawempe Muslim Ladies vs USFAS Bamako.

AS FAR versus Kawempe therefore starts a three-match group campaign, rather than deciding an immediate knockout tie. The times and WAFU B designation follow CAF's 27 October announcement, checked on 29 October 2026, and remain subject to official changes.
