Chelsea enter their Matchday 3 meeting with Roma in the 2026/27 UEFA Women's Champions League having conceded no goals in their first two league-phase games. The English side beat Austria Wien 1-0 and drew 0-0 with OL Lyonnes. Roma have yet to score: they drew 0-0 with OH Leuven before losing 6-0 to Barcelona. That contrast covers only two matches per club, played in September, and cannot predict the score on 28 October.

The comparison covers only the league phase of the 2026/27 women's competition. It does not combine domestic league results, Champions League qualifying matches, other seasons or performance metrics drawn from incompatible samples.

What happened in the first two matchdays?

Chelsea230 September 2026OL Lyonnes 0-0 Chelsea1
Roma123 September 2026OH Leuven 0-0 Roma1

Over that sample, Chelsea have 4 points, 1 goal scored, 0 conceded and a +1 goal difference, with one win, one draw and two clean sheets. Roma have 1 point, 0 goals scored, 6 conceded and a -6 goal difference, with one draw, one defeat and one clean sheet. Chelsea's lead over Roma is three points after two games each. These totals are calculated from the four scorelines published by UEFA; they are not final tournament standings.

What did Chelsea's defence show?

The two clean sheets came in different circumstances. Chelsea protected a home win against Austria Wien on Matchday 1, secured by Wieke Kaptein's goal. UEFA's report notes that visiting player Modesta Uka hit the woodwork, showing that keeping a clean sheet does not mean preventing every opposition chance.

On Matchday 2, Chelsea drew away to OL Lyonnes. According to UEFA's match report, Hannah Hampton made an important late save from Ada Hegerberg. Those results establish that Chelsea conceded no goals across two games, but they do not measure every aspect of the defence or guarantee another clean sheet against Roma.

Does Roma's scoreless start mean they created no chances?

No. In the away draw with OH Leuven, Roma had an opportunity to take all three points, but Marta Pandini struck the post with a late penalty, as UEFA reported. Zero goals scored is therefore not the same as zero chances created.

The 6-0 home defeat to Barcelona accounts for all six goals Roma conceded during the two matchdays under review. It shows the scale of that particular loss, not that Roma conceded six times in each game or that they must attack and defend in the same way against a different opponent.

What do the points and the sample limits mean?

Chelsea have four points to Roma's one, but the clubs faced different opponents and a different mix of home and away fixtures. The league phase features 18 teams, each playing six matches: the top four advance directly to the quarter-finals, while the teams finishing fifth to 12th enter knockout phase play-offs. Two matchdays represent only a small part of that campaign.

This analysis uses results, points, goals for, goals against and clean sheets. It does not introduce expected-goals figures, possession, shot counts or win probabilities, all of which would require specific datasets and definitions. The records describe what has happened; they do not offer a statistical forecast for Chelsea against Roma.
