Al Nassr’s 3-1 win over Neftchi and Al Wasl’s 3-1 defeat to Al Ahli left the two teams in different positions ahead of matchday three of the 2026/27 AFC Champions League Elite. After two games in the West Region league stage, Riyadh-based Al Nassr have three points, while Dubai-based Al Wasl have yet to earn any. Their head-to-head match is scheduled for 26 October 2026 at 9:15 p.m. in Riyadh (UTC+3), at Al-Awwal Park, according to the Saudi Football Federation fixture list. That is 3:15 p.m. on the same day in Brasília (UTC-3).

This analysis includes only continental results from the first two matchdays, checked on 22 October 2026. Domestic competition results are not included in these calculations.

What happened in the first two matchdays?

Both teams lost their openers but responded differently in their second fixtures. Al Nassr suffered a 4-0 loss to Al Ain of the United Arab Emirates, then took their first points by beating Uzbekistan’s Neftchi on 12 October. Al Wasl lost 2-1 to Al Qadsiah in the opening round and were defeated again, 3-1 by Saudi Arabia’s Al Ahli in Dubai, also on 12 October.

Against Neftchi, Ângelo opened the scoring in the 33rd minute, Cristiano Ronaldo added another in the 42nd, and Alisher Odilov pulled one back in the 51st. An own goal by Anvarjon Gofurov in the 78th completed the Saudi side’s win. In Al Wasl’s defeat, Roger Ibañez scored for Al Ahli in the 20th minute, Pedro Malheiro equalised in first-half stoppage time, and Francisco Trincão and Feras Al Brikan secured the 3-1 result after the break. AFC and Reuters reports support this sequence; it is not a tactical performance assessment based on this publication watching either match.

Where did the teams stand before Al Nassr v Al Wasl?

The West Region table after matchday two puts Al Nassr eighth with three points and Al Wasl 14th with none. The figures below come solely from the four 2026/27 AFC Champions League Elite scorelines, without results from the Saudi league or the UAE domestic championship.

Al Wasl14th200225-30

Both clubs have a negative goal difference for different reasons: Al Nassr still carry the four-goal margin from their opening defeat, while Al Wasl have suffered two losses. The Saudi team’s matchday-two victory changed their points tally but did not remove the need for further improvement over the league stage.

What changes with a win, draw or loss on 26 October?

The projection below shows only the two clubs’ points after their meeting. It is not a score prediction or a final league table, as the other West Region teams will also be playing.

Al Wasl win33

If Al Nassr win, they will open a six-point advantage over Al Wasl. A draw would preserve the three-point gap. An Al Wasl victory would put both teams on three points; their relative positions would also depend on goal difference, goals scored and other clubs’ results. None of these scenarios alone guarantees qualification or elimination.

Which AFC rules make the match important?

The 2026/27 regulations split the league stage into two regions of 16 clubs each. Each side plays eight matches, four at home and four away, against eight different opponents. The top eight in each region reach the round of 16. With only two fixtures completed so far, both teams still have six league-stage matches to play, including their meeting in Riyadh.

Under Article 8.3, the standard ranking order begins with points, followed by goal difference, goals scored and number of wins, before the additional criteria in the regulations. There is also a separate procedure if clubs complete the league stage having played unequal numbers of matches. The current points gap therefore cannot be described as a secured knockout berth.

When and where is the fixture?

Al Nassr v Al Wasl is scheduled for Monday, 26 October 2026, at 9:15 p.m. Riyadh time (UTC+3), at Al-Awwal Park in Saudi Arabia. That is 3:15 p.m. Brasília time (UTC-3). The Saudi Football Federation schedule, checked on 22 October, is the reference for the date, kick-off time, home team and venue; the fixture remains subject to change.

This preview does not assign official line-ups, absences or broadcast channels without specific confirmation for this fixture. Domestic matches in the interval may also change perceptions of each squad’s current form, but not the continental figures calculated above.
